Jenny Richardson does still life paintings of her surroundings,
vegetables, familiar objects in the kitchen etc. Her show at the Ashford
gallery, Dublin last September included many paintings of vegetables,
irresistible in their freshness. They are set against a reflective background,
which is almost like a minimalist painting of a wet strand.
It is easy to see from the work of Margaret O’Sullivan that she really
has an affinity with the sea. She
manages to capture its atmosphere so effectively that when looking at the work
it is as if you can hear the waves and feel the tension of the swell under
water. Even in some of her tiny paintings the pull of the tide is tangible. She
is a regular exhibitor with the Paul Kane gallery in Dublin and currently has
work in &quo;Case&quo; at the Lavit gallery, Cork.
The work of these two painters should compliment each other well; the
exhibition will run until August 25th.
